FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The UAVDirect team and its parent company MAXSUR has been producing and selling thermal equipped drones for the past three years. Over that time, we’ve collected a number of questions that people ask. Here is a sample of them, and please feel free to call with additional questions at 1-855-778-6363, or via email at ops@uavdirect.com

What frame rate is best, 9Hz or 30Hz?
For fast moving activities, such as search & rescue, we highly recommend purchasing 30Hz. For other popular applications such as energy audits, 9Hz is more than enough to accomplish the task.

What resolution is best?
More is always better, of course! However, thermal camera pixel sizes are much larger than traditional cameras. So even with the 336 version, the clarity and details are simply amazing.

Can I see at night with DJI XT thermal camera?
For sure! Unlike traditional cameras, thermal cameras do not use visible light. Thermal cameras instead use reflections of long wave infrared, i.e. heat.

Does the DJI XT camera record video?
Yes, the DJI XT thermal camera provides video recording and a still image function when attached to a DJI Inspire 1 or Matrice 100.

What lens size is best for the DJI XT camera?
For our experience, 13mm is the most popular for a wide variety of missions. In general though, choosing the correct focal length greatly depends upon how high you will be flying…the higher you go, the more focal length you will need. Of course, the inverse is true. For specific recommendations and field of view calculations, please contact the team at 1-855-778-6363.

What country is the DJI XT camera made?
The DJI XT is produced here in the United States.

How is the DJI XT camera controlled?
The camera is controlled via the existing control system of the DJI Inspire 1 and Matrice 100. So if you’re familiar with the DJI GO app, you’ll be up and running quickly.

What DJI equipment is the XT compatible with?
Right now, the Inspire 1 and Matrice 100 are fully compatible with the DJI XT.

Is quantity pricing available?
Yes, for orders greater than 5 there is additionally savings available. Just call the team for a quote at 1-855-778-6363.
